Qualification Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support childrens wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

It covers workers who use organisation policies, procedures and individual childrens profiles to plan activities and provide care to children, facilitating their leisure and play and enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. Licensing and Regulatory Requirements

Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Childrens Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here.

Qualification Structure

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Carequalification is made up of 18 units of competency, consisting of 15 core units and 3 elective units

Entry Requirements

  1. Applicants 18 years and above who have satisfactorily completed year 10 or equivalent or,
    Applicants 18 years and above with no formal qualifications who can be assessed for skills that would qualify to undertake this training.
  2. Must have a current Working with Children check and a current National Police Record check (or in the process of obtaining them).
  3. Must complete Literacy and Numeracy Test and the Pre-Training Review.

Completion of the Qualification

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care issued by the Australasian College of Education and Training (ACET).

Australasian College of Education and Training (ACET) is a Registered Training Organisation (Provider Number: 121666) registered with the Australian Skills and Qualifications Authority (ASQA).

Future Study Pathways

After successful completion of your Certificate III, you will have many other study options available to you. It may include CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Candidates may be able to shorten the length of their chosen qualification by supplying evidence of their previous training, employment experience or other life skills that directly relate to the qualification competencies. The evidence must be valid, sufficient and authentic.

Credit Transfer (CT)

Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen qualification by taking into account previous studies. ACET recognises Australian registered training organisations for credit transfers. Credit Transfers will be granted upon the receipt of sufficient evidence to support the application.
