Certificate IV in Building & Construction QLD

Qualification Overview

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders and managers of small to medium ? sized building businesses. The builder may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building licensing authority in the State or Territory. Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this qualification may be required. Occupational titles may include:

  • Builder
  • Construction manager

The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry.

The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCC OHS1001A covers this requirement. Additional units of competency may be required to meet builder registration requirements in various States and Territories.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements to this qualification stated in the training package, however, the ACET has developed its own entry requirements:

  1. Applicants 18 years and above with no formal qualifications who can be assessed for skills that would qualify to undertake this training.
  2. Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.
  3. Must complete literacy and numeracy test and the pre-training review.

Completion of the Qualification

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) issued by the Australasian College of Education and Training (ACET).

Future Study Pathways

After successful completion of your Diploma, you will have many other study options available to you. These may include the CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Candidates may be able to shorten the length of their chosen qualification by supplying evidence of their previous training, employment experience or other life skills that directly relate to the qualification competencies. The evidence must be valid, sufficient and authentic.

Credit Transfer (CT)

Students may be able to shorten the length of their chosen qualification by taking into account previous studies. ACET recognises Australian registered training organisations for credit transfers. Credit Transfers will be granted upon the receipt of sufficient evidence to support the application.
